DISHONEST SOLICITOR.
CASE OF J. B. BATCHELOR.

WELLINGTON, this day.
Only seven cases have been set down for hearing by the Court of Appeal, which opened to-day, and one of those Was disposed of this morning. On the Bench were the Chief Justice, the Hon. M. Myers, and Justices Herdman, Adams, MacGregor and Ostler.
The Court made an order striking John Black Batchelor, a solicitor formerly practising in Christchurch, off the rolls.
Mr. A. W. Free, who appeared for the New Zealand Law Society, said this was not a case where the discretion of the Court was needed. Batchelor had been oonvicted, on a plea of guilty, of two charge of theft involving £1286, and he had been sentenced to two years' reformative detention.
The order was accordingly made, with costs £15 15/.
