PHAR LAP'S ROSBHILL GUINEAS. WINALOT DEFEATS MOLLISON. LIMERICK BREAKS DOWN AND MAY NOT RACE AGAIN. SYDNEY, September 22. The Rosehill Racing Club's spring meeting was held yesterday in fin? weather. Tho New Zealand gelding Phar Lap won the Rosehill Guineas in good style, defeating a field of eleven. Limerick was saddled up at Rosehill for the Hill Stakes, and ho was expected to account for tho opposition in the decision of the weight-for-age race. In performing his preliminary gallop, the champion moved short, but began the race well. He was soon, however, acting as rearguard, and finished ingloriously. On returning to the enclosure he was lame in the forelegs and limped slightly behind. The trainer, F. D. Jones, who was greatly disappointed, states that if Limerick does not improve he will not compete at the Australian Jockey Club's meeting next month.

The veterinary opinion regarding Limerick ia not reassuring. The chief trouble is in the suspensory ligament of the off foreleg. The champion is considered unlikely to race again. His absence from Randwick next month will rob the weight-for-age events there of much interest.

Limerick lias won prize money to tlic amount of £38.72!), which places him second to Gloaming's record of £43,000. Results:— CAMELLIA STAKES, of 330SOVS. Seven furlongs.
