BIRTHDAY PARTY.
A twenty-first birthday party was given on Saturday evening at the resi-
deuce of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Lipscombe, Landscape Road, Papatoetoj, to Miss Rona Lipscombe. Over fifty guests were entertained. The large residence was attractively decorated in green and gold streamers and balloons, and the supper tables, set on the enclosed verandan, were decorated with golden dafK.dils, making a brilliant setting. The central feature was a large birthday
cake. During the evening musical items were given by Misses Audrey and Guelda Fitness, Miss Ivy Smytheman, Miss Gladys Hosking, and Messrs. Nelson Morey and Victor Smytheman. Novelty competitions were won by Misses M. Waters, X. Leonard and G. Fitness, and Messrs. D. Xiblock and S. Snelling. The toast of Miss Rona Lipseombe was proposed by Mr. Ray Eady, and that of Mr. and Mrs. Lipscombe by Mr. A. G. Fallwell. Mrs. Lipscombe was in black georgette and lace; Miss Rona Lipscombe in foam green crepe de chine; Miss Doris Lipscombe, sunset chenille georgette; and Miss Phyllis Lipscombe, ciel blue georgette. Among thuse present were: Mrs. F. Wiseman, silver beaded black georgette, black Oriental shawl; Mrs. Murray Wiseman, ivory georgette with skirt of frilled godets; Mrs. Wei. Firth, black georgette with autumn leaves; Mrs. Ronald Smith, black georgette with crimson
posy; Miss Heiuiic Wiseman, pink georgette; .Miss M. Goodfellow, flame crepe de chine with dianuinte%triinming; Miss 1. Smytlioman, flame satin; Miss M. Waters, black beaded georgette; Miss M. McFarland, lemon taffeta with uneven hemline; Miss X. Snelling, lavender georgette with lemon shoulder spray; Miss Mary Wakelin, blue figured iiino'n; Mi.-s Audrey Fitness, almond ureen crepe satin; Miss Joyce Wakelin, ulil rose charmeuse with gold silk lace; Miss M. Landon, mauve crepe de chine; Miss Mi'vis Young, Betty blue crepe de chine; Miss X. Leonard, flame georgette frith lace; Miss Gladys Grinter, Leith L-reen embossed georgette, ankle length skirt of shaded tulle; Miss P. Landon, black and white beaded georgette; Miss 1. Barker, lemon chenille, uneven hemline; Miss G. Fitness, lemon georgette; Miss E. SneUing, bois do rose georgette, uneven hemline; Miss D. Leighton, rose pink georgette, silver lace insertions; Miss V. O'Hara, rainbow tulle over green; .Miss G. Hosking, orange georgette; Miss Ida Parkinson, apple green georgette, handkerchief points.
