A car was passing through Huntlv South at S p.m., and when crossing a stone culvert, a tyre blew out. The cat and its four occupants were hurled into about 3ft of water. The hood of the car was carried away, and other dama<r 9 was done. No one was seriously hurt.° MAN'S THIGH BROKEN. FOOTBALLING ACCIDENTS. Mr. William Sweet, aged 32, of 75 Owen's Road, Mount Eden, received severe injuries to the head and a broken right leg through being knocked down by a motor car near the Epsom Post Olfice, Manulcau Road, about nine o'clock on Saturday evening. He was taken to the hospital in a private car, and his: condition to-day is reported to be Dot serious. As the result of a collision between a motor car and his motor cycle near tie foot of Anzac Avenue about 6.30 last evening. Mr. T. J. Boyd'was thrown heavily from his machine to the concrete roadway. He was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state by tbe St.. John Ambulance, but was afterwards able tb go to the Purewa Public Works camp; where he lives. The cycle was badly damaged. A broken left thigh was received by Mr. J. Comber, of 46, Islington Street, Ponsonby, when he was knocked down by a motor car at the Three Lamps, Ponsonby, on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to the hospital by the' St. John Ambulance. His condition to-day is reported as not serious. Mi". Clifford Owen, married, aged 27, of Speight's Road, Kohimarama, was burned on the feet and legs when his machine caught fire on the Great South Road aboiit 6.30 last evening. He was taken to the hospital, and his condition to-day is not serious. Playing for Grafton seniors at Eden Park on Saturday, Mr. N. J. McConnell, aged 21, broke his right leg. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition is not serious. Mr. McConnell lives at the Y.M.C.A. Concussion of the brain was received by Mr. J. Davis, of Avondale, while he was playing for Ponsonby third grade against Newton at Point Chevalier. The St. John Ambukince took him to the hospital. y '■ CHILD DIES FROM SCALDS. . Valley, died in Kaitaia Hospital on Saturday as the result of scalds received when she fell into a dish of boiling fowl food..
