CHURCH THEFT.
GOODS VALUED AT £50. STOLEN FROM ST. MATTHEW'S. ■The ladies of St. Matthew's Church have been tlie victims of a particularly mean theft. For months they had been working in preparation for the annual sale of work, "which was to be held in October, and had accumulated goods to the value of £50. > These goods suddenly disappeared from the parish hall, adjoining the church, and no one so far knows how or when the theft was carried out. With commendable courage the 20 stalwart workers, people who do not live in the lap cf luxury, are starting to- do their work over again. They have assured the;vicar, the Rev. Canon Grant Cowen, that they will be in readiness for the sale of work by the second week in •November. ; /
