CHILD MARRIAGES.
Proposed Abolition Causes Uproar. FRACAS AT A MEETING-. (United Service.) (Received 9.30 a.m.) DELHI, September 19. Uproar characterised a meeting in the Town Hall here, held by the orthodox opponents of the Sardas Bill, forbidding child marriages. The hall was captured by supporters of the bill.
Laths and legs were broken and chairs functioned instead of speeches by speakers. Ultimately the supporters of the bill proposed a lady to the chair and passed a resolution by a large majority in favour of the bill.
