TURUA. The Turua Town Board has levied a general rate of Ud In the pound and a street lighting rate of id in the pound on a capital value basis. The board has approved a proposal to pay the Hauraki Plains County Council to lay red metal on the main highway north of the Turua post office.

It was agreed that the chamber give its support to the ' newly-formed Te Aroha Aero Club.

WHAKATANE.

At the Borough Council meeting on Monday a letter was received from the Minister of Lands that the Valuer-General was of opinion that the time is not yet ripe for a revaluation of the borough. It was agreed that Mr. Donaldson be granted an Increase In salary of £50 per annum, the position to be reviewed in three months' time.
