PAEROA QUEEN CARNIVAL

The Paeroa carnival queen, Miss Helen Matthews, was crowned with the customary ceremony. The carnival was organised by the Mayor, Mr. W. Marshall, with an objective of £860. A sum of £1500 was raised by voluntary subscription. The money, which carries a Government subsidy, will be utilised ill improving the borough roads and streets, planting trees, beautifying the hospital grounds, and erecting a war memorial.
