SEWAGE IN THE HARBOUR.

Much useful comment has been made lately about the pollution of the harbour by sewage. In this connection I think, especially as the bathing season is coming on, that attention should be drawn to the dangers arising from the sewer outfall off the bathing sheds at .arrow Xeck Beach. For over three years I> in combination with other ratepayers, have been agitating for the removal of this menace, but it is exceedingly difficult to arouse our apathetic council to action. I have it, on the authority of a highly-placed official qualified to gi\e an expert opinion, that Narrow Neck tfeach is unsafe for bathing and for children o play on. The sooner this menace is removed 1 {or t,le fair n*Rie of Devonport. I tmnk the least the council .can do in the interests of residents and viators is to put notices to this effect upon the beach, even ough by so doing it is acknowledging ft grave indictment against itself for its apathy in regard to the health of the boroujrh.
