LOCAL BODIES.
ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIt-
\ meeting of the Onehunga Borcjgh Council was held last night, when there were present Messrs. W. C. Coldientt (Mayor). H. Stoupe, H. Campling, E. Morton, T. Moor. F. S. Morton, J- Carlton, W. C. Hill, T. R. Lipscombe and R- G. Speight. Resignation. —Mr. E. Morton re»gtty from the Streets Commiaee. Mr. T. Moor i was appointed in his place. ' Three Offers—The council received an offer of £2 a week rent for the big house at Hillsboro'. from Mr. A. Sakey, and Mr. J. W. Carson offered 25/ per week rent for a smaller house there. Mr. t. Matthews expressed his willingness to pay 4/ per ton for wood cut in lengths ot 4ft Bin. All offers were referred to the council in committee. , Rockfield Road—The decision of the council, with regard to the taking over of Rockfield Road, is earnestly desired of the One Tree Hill Road Board- who intimated last night that tbejr will not proceed with any work thereon at present. A legal opinion wms read on the question of this and other boundary Toads between Onehunga and One Tree Hill, and it was decided to deal with the matter in committee. _ . Waikaraka Cemetery.—Mr. C. Banes, of Mount Eden, wrote complimenting the council on the well-kept condition of the Waikaraka Cemetery, especially the concreted paths. Finance. —The general fund is in credit £1 10/3. All the loan accounts are in credit. Tenders.—Two tenders were received for installing electric lights in a house at Hillsboro': W. Crasher and Sons, £15 17/; J. Osborne (accepted), £11 7/6. Plunket Society.—The council donated £5 towards the funds of the Onehunga branch of the Plunket Society.
Static Condenser.—On the recommendation of the Water Committee, the council decided to install a new static condenser at the pumping station, at a cost of £309.
PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
The Papakura Town Board met Taat evening, the chairman (Mr. Ja* McCalW presiding. In the matter of GuillardV Blue Metal Quarry Co., Ltd., re Hunua Road, it *ii resolved that the matter be left in abeyance until the road is classified. Residents of Kelvin Road asked for a footpath* Referred to the Work® Committee for a report. Mr. C. Garlick acknowledged his reappointment on the Fire Brigade Management Committee, but declined acceptance. Mr. J. Beams was appointed to replace Mr. Garlick. The Traffic Committee reported that they had made an inspection of the present taxi stand and had come to the conclusion that the site was unsuitable, being in a "bottle neck," and thfljsfore a source oi danger to traffic. The committee was of opinion that the centre of the triangle was the most suitaWe position subject to the area of the stand being properly sealed and marked. The Works Committees recommendation re the tar-sealing of Broadway was given effect to, and it wis decided to communicate with the Highwiji Botrd. The foreman was instructed to prepare an estimate of the metal or scoria requited for metalling Wellington Street and the approximate cost of same; also to procure what metal may be necessary to repair Proctor Street. The Finance Committee held its first meeting on the sth inst., when Rev. W. C. Wood was elected chairman. It was.deeided to remit £208 8/1 to the Auckland City Council in respect of heavy traffe license fees collected during last year.
