ROTORUA NOTES.
Mrs. J. D. Davys, Piiknatua Street, spent the week-end in Auckland. Miss ! Denton has returned to King George V. Hospital, from a holiday spent in Auckland. Mrs. Blencowe, Arawa Street, has returned from a visit to Australia. Miss Meehan has returned to King George V. Hospital, from a holiday spent in Australia. Mrs. Alfred Steele is the guest of Mrs. P. Bryant, Cornwall Park Avenue, Epsom. Dr. Hilda Northcroft, of Auckland, is a guest at Kia Ora, Pukuatua Street. Mrs. Walter Steele has returned from an extended visit to Sydney. Mrs. Goodfellow, of Sydney, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Walter Steele, Euera Street. Mrs. Steele and Mrs. M. Richter, of Burrows Avenue, Parnell, are guests at Kia Ora, Rotorua. Mrs. Lindsay, of Sydney, is on a visit to Rotorua: Mrs. A. G. Salisbury and family have returned from a holiday spent at Mount Maunganui.

Guests staying at Waiwera House, Rotorua, include: Sir Thomas Parkinson, -of London; Commodore and Mrs. Swabey, Mr. and Mrs. Choyce, Mr. Brookfield, Miss. Brookfield, Air. Murdock, of Auckland; Mr. and Mrs. Upham, Miss Upham, of Christchurch; Mr. and Mrs. Liney, of Sydney; Mr. and Mrs. Carlton, of Hawke's Bay; Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Mason, Miss Coull, Mr. Coull, Miss Soames, Mr. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Grimmett, Miss Duncan, of Wellington; Mr. Forsythe, of Sydney; Mr. Laing, of Dunedin; Mr/ and Mrs. Milbourn, of Cambridge; Mr. Dickenson, of Sydney. There was a crowded attendance at the Devon Street Hall on Friday night, when a childi#»'s plain and fancy dress dance, in aid of the Devon Street Hall fluid, was held. Some very pretty and striking frocks were worn and prizes were awarded to the children for the following:—Prettiest Costume, girls under 10 years: Betty Keane as a Rose, 1; Betty Tyson as an Indian, 2; Barbara Williams, Balloon Girl, 3. Over 10 years: S. Wilson as Josephine, 1; Betty Urquhart as Pierrette, 2. Most Original, girl, under 10 years: Sheila Knowles as Business, Baths and Beauty, 1. Over 10 years: Ruth Holland as Violet Powder Box, 1. Most Original, boy, under 10 years: Sam Orsler as a Peanut, 1. Over 10 years: Leslie O'Connor as a Scarecrow. Under six years: Norma Richardson, as Spring Chicken, 1; J. Hayden as Champion Flour, 2; E. Raethal as Kewpie, 3. Pairs: Elizabeth and Peter Bexley, Toy Soldiers, 1; Hardie and Desmond Richardson as Waiter and Chef, 2. At Dixieland Cabaret, Rotorua, on Wednesday evening a most successful "end-of-the-season" dance was given by the Rotorua Rugby Football Union, when there were over 300 guests present. Hunter's orchestra supplied delightful music and Mr. R. Ewing very capably carried out the duties of M.C. Paper hats in the various clubs' colours, streamers and confetti added to the gay scene, the two Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss J. Gilbertson and Mr. Keith Richards, Miss McDonald and Mr. R. S. Kelly. A mascot dance was won by Mrs. Hollis and Mr. Humphries. Mr. J. J. King was in charge of the progressive "500" tournament, the prizes being won by Mrs. B. Simpson, 1; Mrs. Costello, 2, for the ladies; Mr. Pennington, 1; Mr. G. Lukin, 2, for the gentlemen. After a dainty supper, the president, Mr. A. M. Stephenson, presented the trophies won during the season to the following:—Senior championship, won by Waikite Football Club, accepted by the captain, Mr- D. E. Sheaf; senior Mitchell Shield, won by Kahakura Football Club, received their captain, Mr. O. Sim-
monds; junior championship, won by Rotorua High School, accepted by the captain, Mr. I. Kingi; junior challenge Ingram Cup, won by Waikite Football Club, accepted by their captain, Mr. R. Wilson; D. Hawkins Memorial medal for most improved player under 20 years of age, won by Mr. P. Awatere. Special thanks were tendered to the ladies' committee: Mesdames W. P. Martin, Brothers, W. Walker, Carnachan and Miss R. Owens.
The members of St. John's Presbyterian Guild held the last social of the season on Friday evening at St. John's Hall, Rotorua, when an enjoyable time was spent by those present. A progressive "500" tournament was held pn the stage and in the parlour, the prizes being won by Mrs. Shields, 1; Miss Tansey, 2, for the ladies; Mrs. Duff, 1; Mrs. A. Steele, 2, who both played as men, for the gentlemen. Excellent dance music was played by Mrs. McLennan and the Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Hazel Harrison and Miss Kathleen Beale. The evening wu most successful and was managed entirely by the men's committee.
