The marriage took place in San Francisco in September, of Molly, only daughter of- Mr. and Mrs. A. LindsayRobertson, of Auckland and Wellington, to Lieut. Allan Chappell, United Stateß Navy, only son of Mr. und Mrs. H. Chappell, of Glendale, California. • « * • Miss A. M. Bowbyes, of Dunedin, has for the past year been studying at Teachers' College, Columbia University, New York, but is at present on vacation in England. She intends to return to New York and continue studying during the Fall Term, after which she will probably leave for New Zealand early in February. • * • * Mrs. and Miss E. A Clayton, of Auckland, are visting their son and brother respectively, and intend staying in England about twelve months. They arrived by the Port Albany on July 4, coming via AustraUa and Suez.. They made a short visit 'to Edinburgh and Northumberland, and intend remaining in the South of England for the rest of their stay. • ♦ • e Laurel wreaths are being collected in America and armnged on the brow of the New Zealand author, Miss Edith Howes. The first edition of "Sandals of Pearls" has now been issued by the firm of Little Brown, Limited, of Boston, and "Fairy Tales from the Southern Seas" is announced. The work has won very high appreciation from the critics of a land which is to the fore in children's literature. • • • • Miss E. J. Webb, of Auckland, is in England on a brief visit. She has spent a pleasant three weeks with relatives at Clacton-on-Sea. It is not Miss Webb's intention to tour, for she feels that London, with its store of all that is ancient and modern, and its representation of all countries in some form or another, will afford sufficient interest to satisfy her for the short time she is here.
