LORD LOVAT'S VISIT.
TO-DAY'S DEPUTATIONS,
LAND SETTLEMENT SCHEMES. MANY THEORIES PUT FORWARD. Several bodies interested in immigration and land settlement discussed various phases of the questions with Lord Lovat this morning at the Town HalL At 10 a.m. he met the Women's Joint Immigration Committee and half an hour later a deputation from the British Isles Association of New Zealand. Subsequently Lord Lovat was interviewed by a deputation from the Church of England Immigration Committee, and at 12.45 the visitor was the guest of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce at luncheon. Immediately after this he was met by representatives of the New Zealand Land Settlement and Development League, the Economic Society, the Auckland Provincial branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, the Chamber of Commerce and other interested bodies, when land settlement generally was discussed. Later in the afternoon Lord Lovat was given a reception .by the Auckland branch of St. Andrew's Society. Lord Lovat will leave for Hamilton this evening by the Limited express, and will proceed to Rotorua by car to-mor-row. En route calls will be made at Hora Hora and Arapuni, and he will lunch at the Salvation Army's boys' farm at Putaruru, and inspect the work being done there. Rotorua should be reached about 5 p.m. On Thursday Lord Lovat will leave Rotorua for Wairakei, Taupo and Napier. On the way he will inspect various farms in the pumice country as well as afforestation areas.
