VOLCANIC ASH.
CLOUDS AT SEA. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 12 noon.) SUVA, October 7. The steamer Carriso, radioed on October 3 that, between latitude 17 degrees 25 minutes south, longtitude 176 degrees 0 minutes west, and latitude 18 degrees 20 minutes south, longtitude 177 degrees 20' minutes west, she passed through large fields of volcanic ash and [pumice, extending for several miles.
