RIFLE SHOOTING.
AXASANA CLUB. . . The Akarana Rifle Club opened its championship shoot at Penrose Bifle Range on Saturday by competing for .trophies presented by Messrs. F. H. Coombes, E. J. C. Boston and J. B. Draffin. There was a large atttnuftnce of uembtrs And conditions wtrt ideal for good shooting. Trophy points were won by the following: T. Elliott, J. K. Draffin. W. Powell, A. M. D. Ashley, i. CITY AND SUBURBS CLUB.
The City and Suburbs Rifle Club opened their championship series for the season with a ten-shot shoot at 500 and 600 yards on Saturday, under' perfect conditions. There was a rery large atendance, which made the range accommodation available inadequate. Shooting was of a high standard for the beginning of the. aeason, Rifleman A. J. Pieterson's 95 being a brilliant effort. Rifleman M. H. Russell shot very solidly in B grade, but found it impossible to concede the handicaps to those who finished ahead of him. Pieterson and Mayhill won a spoon each, and the three top men In each grade won three, two and one trophy points. Details of the shooting are:—
