PAPATOETOE CLUB. OFFICIAL OPENING. The first of the official openings amongst clubs afliliated to the Auckland Centre took place at Papatoetoe on Saturday afternoon, when the local club made an auspicious .commencement under ideal conditions. The handsome pavilion was bedecked with flags, the greens, both bowling and croquet, were in capital order, the local band played cheerful music, while hundreds of members and visitors enjoyed themselves as only bowlers and croquet players can. The visitors were heartily welcomed by Mr. T. R. Smytheman, president of the Bowling Club, and Mrs. Daisley, president of the Croquet Club, after which Mr. G. M. Reid spoke on behalf Qf the Centre executive. There was 1 a full muster of bowlers, representing most of the city and suburban clubs, and sixteen full rinks were played. At an interval refreshments were dispensed in the pavilion by the ladies' committee. The secretary, Mr. Parkgr Hill, was indefatigable in his efforts'to ensure the success of the gathering.
