MUSICAL COMPETITIONS.
CAMBRIDGE FESTIVAL ENDS.
CHAMPIONSHIPS AWARDED.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. The Cambridge musical and elocutionary competitions were brought to a close last night with a most successful prize-winners' concert in the Town Hall.' Fully 900 people were present. The following -championships were awarded:— Elocution.—-Ladies: Miss Norma Langton (Cambridge), 15 points, 1; Miss Gladys Brittain (Auckland, 11 points, 2. Gentlemen: Mr. Noel Vear (Auckland), 15 points, 1. Singing.—Gentlemen: Mr. H. Piper (Hamilton), 14 points, 1; Mr. A. Watts (Manurewa), 12 points, 2. Ladies: None qualified for the championship, but special trophies were awarded Misses Adele Bell (Pirongia), Mary Attwood (Cambridge) and Doris Noore (Devonport). A special pfize for the best work in any pianoforte section was awarded to Miss Marie Darby (Manurewa), and a special prize for the most points gained in the children's elocutionary section to Phyllis Galbraith (Rotorua).
