NO BUTTER POOL.

AUSTRALIAN BALLOT. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Attempts to create a butter marketing board here have failed, supporters having been unsuccessful in obtaining the requisite two-thirds of the total votes polled. A feature of the ballot against the pool was the strong negative vote in the dairying districts on the north coast.

SIBERIAN BUTTER IMPROVES.

The following is an extract from the circular issued by a leading London produce importer to his clients: — "As we have pointed out in previous communications, which we have sent you in regard to Siberian butter, the quality this season has been quite a feature of the market, and a large proportion of recent arrivals has been quite equal to best .New Zealand or Australian butter, and many of our customers have voluntarily expressed the opinion that our best dairies will compare favourably with fresh landed Latvian or Esthonian butters, and this notwithstanding the fact that until this week we have been quoting our choicest Siberian dairies at about 14/ to 18/ ner cwt under the price of Latvian and Lsthoman descriptions."
