AUCKLAND ORPHANS.
LOSING OF SEASON.
The Auckland Orphans' Club held its final meeting of the 1928 season in Scots Hall on Saturday evening. The president, Mr. J. B. Johnston, presided over a large attendance. Fraternal messages were received from the Devonport, Birkenhead, North cote, Hamilton and Te Awamutu Orphans' Club 6. The thanks of the club were conveyed by the president to Mr. Harold Baxter conductor of the orchestra, Mr. H. Somervnlle leader Mr. W. D'Authreau, librarian, and the members of the orchestra; to the various "performers who assisted during the season, and the theatre managements; to Messrs. Cyril Towsey, T Sparling and W. Dingle, hon. pianist*; Messrs. J. D. Crawford, eecretary; D W Dunlop, treasurer; Percy Howden, assistaD^ e? -« y ' and the stewards. the effort in recognition of the services l S' F " Cater » w 'ho had conducted the club s orchestra for several years, was stated by the chairman to have produced £300, and Mrs. Cater had conveyed appreciation of the gift.
