OBITUARY.
FUNERAL OF MR. W. E. RICHARDSON TRIBUTE TO XORTHCOTE EX-MAYOR. The large and representative gathering which attended the funeral of the late Mr. William Ernest Richardson on Saturday afternoon together with the many handsome floral emblems and condolence messages forwarded, provided a high tribute to the esteem in which Northcote's former Mayor was regarded. Four past Mayors—Messrs. Herbert Cadness, George Fraser, John B. Tonar, and C. A. Deuxberry—acted as pall-bearers.
The Mayor, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, (who also represented the Waitemata Power Board), attended with the members of the Northcote Borough Council and Town Clerk, (Mr. H. W. Wilson) and the borough staff.
Several former members of the Borough Council were present, besides representatives of various organisations and churches. The services at the residence, Northcote, and at the Birkenhead Cemetery were conducted by the Rev. T. Hall May, M.A. (Presbyterian).
