TIMARU TO/ CHRISTCHURCH. EIGHTY-SEVEN IN.RACE. FINE WEATHER .AT START. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ]■■■ TIMARU, this day. Eighty-seven of 98 cyclists who entered for the Timaru-Christchurch road race set out this morning on their 114mile journey. The sun was shining and there was no wind. \ There was a large crowd to witness the departure, and the riders were cheered as they mounted their machines and were started by the Mayor, Mr. 6. J. Wallace. Non-starters were S. Burt (55m), A. S. Mackay (45m), C. E. Christiansdn (36m)', F. Flanagan (33m), C. M. Nicholson (30). A. J. Archer (3m), T. P. Hoffman (28m)' S. A. Jordan (125 m), W. O'Connor (20m), S. Gooch (12m). and F. J. Carey (12m). The first man left at 9.5 a.m. and the last at 10 o'clock.
