Miles Fukunaga, aged nineteen, has been sentenced to death for the murder of the boy, Gill jamieson, son of the vice-president of the Hawaiian Trust Co. It x was clearly shown that Fukunaga took Gill Jamieson to a secluded spot near the Royal Hotel at Waikiki,strangled him and then penned a ransom note to his father, thus collecting £800. .' ■■'■- ' ' HEALY CAPTURED. The Civic Guards of the Irish Free State' have at last captured Cornelius Healy, the one-eyed gunner,, who is charged With two attempts to murder policemen, and with other offences.
During the disturbances Healy was a "one-man army" who perambulated the country waging a solitary war. He carried on his shoulder a machine-gun, which he dubbed "Lizzie," and he started a fight whenever he thought fit. He was very .alert and eluded the- police owing to his phenomenal running power-: He was captured without resistance when a. surprise posse of police sxurounded his home. •
SHOOTING TRAGEDY. Bullet Mjeant For Emu Kills Man, Wounds Another. MOTOR-TRUCK BURNED. (Received 1 p.m.) BRISBANE, this day. A remarkable tragedy is reported from tho Roma district. Charles Crneknell, armed with a rifle, jumped off a motor-truck to shoot an emu. The weapon exploded and the bullet ploughed through the body of George Cain, who was killed, and then passed through a drover named Williams, who is in a critical condition. The bullet, embedded itself in the Upholstery of the truck, which was set on fire and burned to ashes. VICTORY FOR YOUTH. BRITSISH WOMEN'S GOLF. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.)
