FOR THE GIRLS.
- A BUSY MORNING IN THE OFFICE. .; ;; : ■ PETER AND WENDY HAVE VISITORS. ■; My Dear Girls, — l Oh, dear! I must hurry and write my letter to you, as I heard « : 7 -i rumour that the Lost Boys are coming to the office to find out what Peter '}■ ' has put in our Christmas Magazine about them. I thought it was only ; girls who were inquisitive. '•.,., , : I i Of course, we shall not let them know; they will have to wait like the ; : ; rest of our large family of "Budget" readers. Even Peters pet croc. doesn't know what is going to be in about HIM. He gave me such a nip . on the ankle the other day because I wouldn t tell him; he s getting i:.,;; dreadfully pampered. I told Peter so, and we nearly had a quarrel. V^There is every excuse for frayed nerves just now at the othce, if you could only imagine how busy everybody is with "Enzed. Junior." The I. - : birthday rush was bad enough; this is fifty times worse. That is became >l > Peter Pan is always : thinking out some bright, new, breezy ideas for the ';.■;■;■'. "Budgetites." Believe me, girls, he does make us hop sometimes, but . then, he always does the lion's share of the work himself. If you could '. see him at his desk sorting copy! Mountains, piles, avalanches of it! All , the accepted stories and articles he tosses into the air, and Nana (I've ' trained her to do it) catches them cleverly, and runs to the printer with .: them. It saves such a lot of time. :••■• _ _ ", i" ■ ! ■-;,■ Oh, Helpl What was that? Ding-a-hng. Crash! Bang! The Lost Boys have arrived.; ■ ' , . He ivu 1 r always so humble, was Tootles. . . . ..■ i. -..: "Certainly not," laughed Nilis. "Who would ever think of putting | you in a book?" V ■ ■ ' ■«" ' • .-. , ! /.' I looked at Peter, and he looked at me, and we both made upon ;• minds we would put Tootles in. "But we can't let them in now, what shall '■■ f we do?" said Peter, almost tearing his hair. - •!, V "Let us in, we've come to have the big Pow Wow with the Great; v '. White Father," shouted John, banging on the door. . . 1?' "Send Tinker Bell out to them," I suggested. She s done nothing all, V day but sit on top of the bookcase and jeer at us." _ ■'/ ;V?V : ■ "Tink," said Peter.
