SOUTH AUCKLAND TITLE. SEMI-FINAL REACHED. AUCKLAND PLAYERS OUT. . (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON", this day. In fine weather conditions the South Auckland golf championship tournament was continued yesterday, when tho semifinal stages of the championship and of the St. Andrew's match were reached. Iu the former competition the match between A. Stitchbury (Wellington) and Hockin (Maungakiekie) was most exciting. The Wellington man was one up at the turn, and increased his lead to stand dormy 3 at the lGth. Hockin by a great effort took the next.two holes, but Stitchbury managed to get a-half for the last, and won 1 up. In almost similar fashion J. L. Black (Otorohanga) defeated Brittain, of Eotorua.
W. Wynne (Hamilton) was easily the most consistent player of the day, returning cards of 77 for both morning and afternoon rounds, despite the fact that he took 7 at the second hole in the afternoon. The bogey handicap in the afternoon was won by H. Laver, of Morrinsville, who was 6 up. Eesults:— The Championship. Second Bound.—Black beat Brittain, 1 up. Wynne beat Nieoll, C and 5. Gillies beat Gardner by default. Stitchbuiy beat J. Hockin, 1 up. St. Andrew's Match. . Second Bound.—Corbett beat Wilkie, 2 and I'. Halligan bent Ensor, 1 up. Otway beat O"Neil, f up. Brosaahan beat Russell at the 20th.
