MAORI HOSPITAL.
PRINCESS TE PUEA'S WORK. GOVERNMENT GRANTS £1000. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday. The Government has made a grant of £1000 to Princess Te Puea's fund for the erection and maintenance of a hospital for Maoris. The Princess and her concert party have completed another tour, which this time included Wellington, and resulted in the addition of £200 to the hospital fund. Sir Apirana Ngata recently visited Ngaruawahia and produced plans of the hospital. It will be decorated by Maori carving. During the visit Sir Apirana, Princess Te Pile a and a deputation from the Regatta Association discussed the programme for the next regatta, to be held on March 17. The Akarana Maori Association will hold a championship tennis tournament at the time, and plans for co-operation were discussed. One of the proposals was for a great exhibition of pois and hakas, Over 100 men to take part in the latter. It was also decided that the canoes be fitted out with ornamental stern and bow posts.
