HARBOUR BRIDGE.
PETITION TO PARLIAMENT.
RESULT BEING AWAITED. MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. "Until a decision from Wellington is known it is not intended to actively pursue a campaign for the proposed'harbour bridge," said Mr. G. O'Halloran, who presided at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Bridge Association last evening. The chairman said that a delegation which had gone to Wellington had put forward a good case before the Parliamentary committee. Messrs. R. H. Greville and R. F. Moore had assisted in placing the matter before the committee. A letter had been received from Mr. A. Harris, M.P., stating that the matter was at present sub judice, but there would probably be some information in the course of a few days. It was decided to await a reply to the petition sent to Parliament, and to further consider the matter at the next meeting. A letter was received from the Auckland City Council expressing the opinion that at the present time the construction of a harbour bridge was not warranted. Forty-two new members were elected.
