SUNDAY EXCURSION TRAINS.
DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY PROTESTS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday. "The Presbytery of Dunedin observes with regret that the Railways Department propose to run a Sunday excursion j train to Lawrence for the purposes of sightseeing, and the Presbytery further expresses its strong disapproval of the extension of the public services for excursions on Sundays." In moving this resolution at a meeting of the Presbytery, Dr. Merrington recalled that a deputation had waited on the Minister of Railways, Mr. Coates, in 1925, and he had given them an assurance that no extension would be given to running Sunday trains. They asked for the fulfilment of that promise. The motion was carried unanimously, and it was decided to forward copies to the Priipe Minister and members of Parliament.
