WANTS AND WISHES.
TWO RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATIONS. Two ratepayers' associations in Mount Roskill made known their wants and wishes at the last meeting of Mt. Roskill Road Board in a series of requests, the wants coming first: The board's assistance in securing a street light in Quest Terrace;- that preference be given to ratepayers for employment by the board; inviting the board to visit some streets to see how the receptacles are left after being emptied of rubbish; to b8 furnished with a copy of the balance-sheet; drawing attention to straying cattle in the western area. The Western Association concluded with an assurance that they are in no way connected with the Roskill South Association, and were not in favour of amalgamation with the city. The Roskill South Ratepayers' Association wanted, the board's assistance in securing better postal facilities and a slot telephone at the corner of May and Richardson Roads; to extend the street lighting to White Swan and Ridge Roads; a footpath in May and Richardson Roads; and desired to know what the board proposes to do about a water supply in Ridge Road. »:£ln answer to these requests a reply will be sent that the board will employ ratepayers when re-engaging men; that ratepayers can see the balance-sheet in the office; that the refuse collector will deal with the business under his charge, and the ranger with straying cattle. The : postmaster in Auckland is to be asked to grant the facilities sought, and the Electric Power Board is to be asked likewise about the light. The footpaths cannot he allowed at present, and the question of water supply in Ridge Road was referred to the engineer for a report.
