BATCHELOR CASE.

CHRISTCHURCH MAN'S LOSSES DELAYED INVESTIGATION BLAMED (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. "I am appealing with regard to the loss of £986 paid by me to J. B. Batchelor, solicitor, of Christchurch, for whom I had a warrant of arrest' issued," states Leonard P. Voice, of Everard Street, Christchurch, in a petition presented by Mr. Howard. Petitioner asks Parliament to make him an allowance on account of his losses. He states that, as the result of Batchelor's books not being in order, Batchelor applied to the SolicitorGeneral for an extension of time, which was granted, ''and during that time fraudulency was committed." Petitioner explains that he purchased a property for a home, and on July 7, 1928, paid. £986, not suspecting that everything was not all right. He anti-. cipates that the winding up ofBatchelor's estate will produce no return, and he (petitioner) will thus be deprived. of his life's savings. He concludes: "I am dependent on my wages 1 alone for a living, and unless something is done for me I will be without a home for myself and family. I feel that had due precautions been taken and an investigation ordered in time I would not have lost my money."
