CAMBRIDGE FESTIVAL AUCKL ANDERS SUCCESSFUL, (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondeaft.) CAMBRIDGE!, this day. The Cambridge Musical Competitions Society's sixth annual festival opened yesterday, with prospects of being aa even greater success than ita pndMMsors. The entries, 520, are the greatest on record. Auckland city and all parts of the province are well represented among the competitors. The judges are: Elocution, Mrs. Gilford Bell (Auckland); vocal and instrumental music, Mr. Will Hutehev (Wanganui). The following events were judged yesterday:— Recitation ("The Four Friends"), boys or girls under 9: Joyce Martin, 83 points, 1; Moya Mahony, 77,2. Piano Solo ("The MAP), under 12: Gwenda "Vickie, 77, 1; Mona Ryan (T# Aroha), 2. Recitation ("Song of Little Sabots"), girls under 16: Kathleen Goodwin, 75,1; Sybil Wright (Frankton), 74, 2. Vocal Solo, ladies, any voice, restricted: Mrs. Lucy Bettany (Auckland), "Melisande in the Wood," 80, 1; Mary Attwood, 73, 2. Piano Solo (Chopin's Walts in G Minor), under 18: Joyce Hewitt (Auckland), 80, 1; Thora Stubbs (Hamilton), 79, 2.
