RAILWAY BOOKING FACILITIES.
A few minutes after six o'clock one Tuesday evening I trudged along to the railway station in the wind and hail to book a seat to Wellington in the Limited on Thursday. The office was open, the clerks were there* but I was told I could not get my seat ticket till to-morrow morning; they did not book seats after five o'clock. Is this what the new general manager calls "giving sen-ice"? A few similar things like this, say, in the luggage rWHi,.. service, which I have experienced do not cause much wonder why travellers prefer the motor car. DISGUSTED.
[The office is open for future reservations from nine to five daily, and for immediate reservations, that is, for passengers leaving that night, it remains open for some tim. after five. —Ed.]
