OVERSEAS MARKETS.

TALLOW, HEMP, EGGS, ETC. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated September 29, from the High Commissioner, London:— Tallow.—There was no auction this week. The market is firm at last quotations. Eggs.—There were smaller arrivals and the best met with a good demand. Pressent quotations are, per long 100: English, 17/6 to 22/; Dutch, 15/6 to 20/; Danish and French, 15/ to 18/6; Belgium. 14/6 to 16/; Lithuanian, Polish and Russian, 9/6 to 13/9. Hemp.—The Manila market continues dull. "J" grade, October-December shipment, sold down to £33, with closing value £32 10/. The sisal market is quet. Closing values were: No. 1. sellers, £35 10/; No. 2, £34. The New Zealand market is quiet and barely steady. Nominal closing values were: October-Decem-ber shipments, high points, £31 10/; fair, £28 15/; second grade, £20 10/; third grade, £17 10/. The wool sales continue, and although competition is better, the prices of most descriptions have moved against sellers.

LONDON WOOL SALES. (Australian and >?.Z. Press Association.) (Received 10 a.m.) October 1. At the wool sales 11,937 bales were offered, of which 4774 were Australian and 6116 New Zealand. There was an excellent selection of greasy crossbreds and a very large offering of slipes, with many withdrawals. The market was quiet and unchanged. Bradford is weak and uncertain, with quotations variable, and no business passing. LOWER VALUES. Messrs. Da'lgety and Company, Limited, report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated Ist instant:— Wool Sales.' —The sales continue. As compared with closing rates of last series: Halfbred greasy, 2d to 3d lower; crossbred fine greasy, 2d to 3d lower; crossbred medium and coarse greasy, 2d to 2%d lower; halfbred scoured, 3d to 4d lower: crossbred scoured, 2%d to 3%d lower; slipe halfbred, 3%d to 4d lower; crossbred slipe, 2ted to 3%d lower.
