CRICKET.

NORTHCOTE CLUB.

Northcote cricketers are looking forward to - the ensuing season with considerable enthusiasm, and the provision of the new cricket ground In the Municipal Recreation Reserve is expected to raise the standard of play and give a big Impetus to the game In the borough. This feature was referred to in the report of the annual meeting, held in the Parish Hall last evening, at which, Mr. P. Cross presided. Members were reminded that this year the club would have the privilege of ploying its matches on its home ground. This should result in a great increase In local support, which hitherto had been somewhat weakened by reason of the teams having to play all matches out of their own district. From a practice point of view, the ground would also be a decided acquisition, for it would enable local pla.v«rs to practice in" the evenings, which had been practically impossible in -the .past owing to the distance from a suitable area. The new conditions would ensure a better standard of play. _ »* The election of officers resulted :—Patron. Mr. H. Cadness. sen.; president, Mr. W. Garner, sen.; secretary, Mr,.
