ROTORUA NOTES.

The Rotorua Hunt Association held their first ball at the social hall, Brent's Bathgate House, on Tuesday evening, when there was a large attendance. Clusters of gaily-coloured balloons formed attractive decorations, and were later in the evening used in the balloon dance. Excellent dance music was supplied by a panatrope. At the Peerless Hall on Wednesday night the committee of the Rotorua Primary School held their annual dance and card tournament. The stage was arranged for the progressive 500 tournament, the prizes being won by Mrs. Costello first, Mrs. Worrall second for the ladies; Mr. Moreland first, Mr. H. Rogers second for the gentlemen. Excellent dance music was supplied by the K. Boys' Orchestra. Prizes for the Monte Carlo waltz were won by Miss M. Raymond and Mr. Collins, the lucky spot dance by Miss Dixon and Mr. D. Sheaf. After a dainty supper, served by the ladies' committee, under the supervision of Mrs. F. C. Davidson and Mrs. J. H. Buddie, the chairman, Mr. C. A. Clarke presented the prizes won during the evening, and thanked those present for their support and attendance. Among those present were:—Mesdames F. C. Davidson, J. H. Buddie, C. A. Clarke, W. St. Clair, Hill, G. West, Luxton, Clarke, Davies, J. Winslade, R. Parata, Goodson, Wall, Dixon, Wilson.

The Rotorua branch of the South Auckland Public Service Association organised their annual dance and progressfve 500 tournament at the Peerless Hall, on Friday evening. There was a large attendance of both dancers and card players. The card tournament was supervised by Mr. J. J. King, and the prizes were won by Mrs. Carnachan first, Mrs. Byrne second, Mrs. Tyson third, for the ladies; Mr. Landman first, Mrs. Connell second, Mr. F. Brothers third, for the gentlemen. The K. Boys' Orchestra rendered excellent music. The Monte Carlo waltz prizes were won by Miss Dunstan and Mr. C. Smith, Miss F. Charteris and Mrs. Cross. The energetic ladies of the committee, Mesdames Fitzwilliam, Brothers, sen., M. Hockley, R. Owens, were untiring in their efforts to make the evening a success. Mr. R. Ewing apologised for the unavoidable absence of Mr. W. Hill, the president.
