' In the meantime Sergeant Fernley, of Te Kuiti station, stationed Constables Kennedy and Muir to watch the main highway approach to the town, while the sergeant, with Constable Annabel, took up a position on the back road leading into the borough. Trask and his son, who occupied the front seat of the sedan, were completely taken by surprise when called upon to stop by Sergeant Fernley, and they were promptly arrested and charged with theft. Accused Before Court. The three accused men appeared at the Police Court this afternoon when they were charged that on September 29 they did steal an Essex coach, valued at £220, owned by Bert Shorter, of Auckland. Roy Edward Trask and Norman Travers were charged that last Friday night at Mount Eden they robbed with personal violence George Pearce and Elizabeth Pearce of a hand-bag containing £6 in money, keys and papers.
