MOUNT EDEN BOWLERS.

NEW SITE PROPOSED.

AREA AT NICHOLSON PARK. LEASE FROM BOROUGH COUNCIL. After a long discussion, the Mount Eden Borough Council decided last evening to Tease the Mount Eden Bowling Club a site on Nicholson Park at £100 per year. Mr. J. Smith said that the Finance Committee had considered the matter carefully, and were in/ favour of the proposal. Many municipalities leased bowlers sites at a peppercorn rental, and in the present instance he considered that '£50 or £75 a year would be a fair rent. Mr. D. C. Fraser protested against the suggested rental of £100 in view of the large expenditure that the club was prepared to undertake. Mr. T. L. Taylor said that the council would be faced with heavy expenditure to put the area in order. It was explained that the Bowling Club proposed to have two full-sized greens and a small one, to beautify the locality, and build a pavilion. After a motion to refer the matter back to the Finance Committee was defeated, it was decided to offer the Bowling Club a lease at the rental previously named.
