CUSTOMS FIGURES.

REVENUE FOR NINE MONTHS. DECREASE OF £231,634. Another decrease in the Customs revenue at the port of Auckland is shown by last month's figures. In the nine months now past six of the monthly returns have shown decreases on last year's figures. Last month's total was £187,907, compared with £221,349 in September, 1927, and £231,995 in Sep- ! tember, 1926, representing decreases of £33,442 and £44,088. The revenue for the/nine months has been £1,598,624, compared with £1,830,258 in 1927 and £1,849,598 in 1926. The decrease, compared with last year, has been £231,634. September's motor spirit importations yielded a revenue of £14,519, being £5263 less than the figures for August. Tyre taxation amounted to £1898, as ■gainst £3292 in August.
