STRIKE CRISIS.
MOMENTOUS MEETING.
All Australia May Be Involved In Industrial War. UNIONS TO SAY YEA OR NAY. (Received 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this day. The Transport Workers" Act operates to-day at Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle and at Newcastle to-morrow. The licensing of workers is already proceeding at most ports. A union conference is being held to-day ct Melbourne when the strike policy will he defined. It is expected to be the most momentous in union history and possibly may precipitate a strike of nation-wide dimensions, involving railways, tramways, all transport facilities and food operatives. All unions will be called upon to give effect to whatever decision is arrived at. Approximately twenty of the most powerful unions in Australia will be drawn into the conflict, which will be virtually a fight against the licensing of unionists and the introduction of free labour. The conference begins at the Trades Hall, Melboi'.rne, at 2.30.
