P AERO A. The Paeroa Orphans' Club held its monthly session on Thursday night, Bro. H. Poland presiding. The musical programme was contributed by the club's orchestra and Bros. J. McDonald, S. Sadler, P. Mill, the Bev. Mitchell, P. Williams, L. Flatt, H. Poland, B. Jutson, E. V. Slyfield, A. T. Jones, F. G. Williams, A. E. Steedman, E. Edwards and B. Flatt. Present indications are favourable iu the Ohinemuri district for the fishing season, which opens on Monday. Largs numbers of fish have lately been seen in the streams and although the waters are running fairly high, it is anticipated that the Komata, Hlkutaia and Waitawheta Streams at least will be flshable on Monday. At a meeting of the New Zealand Sharemilkers' Association called for the purpose of discussing the constitution of a disputes committee, a number of farm owners were present by invitation. The chairman, Mr. P. G. Shirley, traversed the objects of the association, which aimed at the betterment of the dairying industry generally. It was suggested that the disputes committee should consist of one associate member, one owner, and a solicitor, to be agreed up on by both parties. The owners present expressed confidence in the movement and decided to form a committee of owners to work in conjunction with the association in an endeavour to raise the status of the industry.

OTOROHANGA, Friday. At a well-attended meeting of the Farmers' Union to-day, resolutions were carried favouring joining up with a subprovincial centre in Waikato; also urging the Department of Agriculture to test all reputed remedies for diseases in cattle before allowing them to be sold to farmers.
At the annual meeting of the Whakatane Bod and Gun Club, officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow : —Patron. Mr. F. J. Burt; president, Mr. W. H. Semmens : vice-presidents. Messrs. G. C. Lord' and J. A. Rudd; committee, Messrs. P. Bullivant. W. Howat, L. Freeman, C. Timbs, F. B. Cutler, T. Mitchell, E. Bryenton, F. J. Reynolds, C. Bogers, C. Eivers, B. Hooper, and G. C. Peebles; secretary and treasurer. Mr. J. O'Sullivan; assistant secretary. Mr. F. J. Reynolds ; auditor, Mr. J. Moody. Mr. Reynolds proposed, and Mr. Semmens seconded, that Mr. G. C. Peebles be made a life member of the club in recognition of his services as secretary. At the annual general meeting of the Whakatane Lawn Tennis Club the election of officers for the ensuing year resulted : — President. Mr. X. Carter; vice-president. Mr. K. Knight; secretary, Mr. S. B. Beckett; treasurer, Mr. C. S. Armstrong; committee. Mrs. Powdrell, Miss F. Bell. Misa D. Allan, Messrs. A. E. Powdrell, W. G. Russell. J. M. Hobin ; club captain, Mr. A. E. Powdrell: auditor, Mr. L. Buddie; finance committee, president, secretary, treasurer and Mr. .1. M. Hobin.
