LAWN TENNIS.
ST. HELIER'S CLUB. There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the St. Helier's Lawn Tennis Club. The reporr showed an increased membership on the previous season and u satisfactory financial position. The following officers were elected : — President. Mr. A. O. Horspool ; viee-presi-denis. \lessrs. Keys. Warden, McArthur, Wright; hon. secretary, Mr. H. E. Kretsclimar ; committee, Mesdames Cooper. Butler. Kretschmar. Needham and Miss Bradsiiaw, Messrs. Cooper, Diamond, Bradley. Phillip and Scott; treasurer. Miss M. Goldsbro. It was decided to open the season on October 20.
PIAKO ASSOCIATION.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAITOA. Sunday. The annual meeting of the Piako Association was heid at Waitoa on Friday evening. The balance-sheet for the year showed a credit balance of £ s 8/4. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron. Mr. F. W. Walters : president, Mr. C. Boyle : vice-presidents. Messrs. E. Johansen. A. Vickers. W. Hallett : hon, secretary and treasurer. Mr. D. Malcolm : committee. Messrs. A. Wratt, J. Hart. A. Candy, P. W. Davis. R. Johnston. N. Donovan, H. Wagstaff. D. Malcolm. At a meeting of the committee it was resolved to commence the association's inter-club competition on Saturday. October 24. The draw resulted as follows : —First round: Springdale v. Tatuanui at Tatuanui : Waitoa v. Ngarua, at Ngarua. November 24: Ngarua v. Tatuanui. Waitoa v. Springdale, at Springdale. December 1 : I Springdale v. Ngarua. at Ngarua, Waitoa v. Tatuanui. at Tatuanui.
DARGAVILLE CLUB
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE. this day. The annual meeting of the Dargaville Tennis Club was held, with Mr. T. C. French, presiding:. In his annual report the president suggested arranging friendly matches with the Whangarei Tennis Club, engaging as many players as possible. The opening date was fixed for Saturday, October 13. The following officers were elected : Patron. Mr. ,T. G. Coates ; president. Mr. T. C. French; vice-presidents. Messrs. B. S. Argus, E. R. Munn : club captain, Mr. F. Glen. Gould; secretary. Mr. J. IT. Gossett: auditor. Mr. E. R. Munn; delegate to North Auckland Tennis Association. Messrs. B. S. Argus and E. H. Stoddart: committee. Misses Phyllis Hardine. L. Manstone. R. Kimber, Dr. Greville. Messrs. S. Harding, and .T. Pergelly: selection committee: Miss M. Dargaville and Mr. F. C. Gould.
Mr. and Mrs. French were elected life members of the club in recognition of theysplendid services to tennis interests in the district.
