NORTH SHORE CLUB.
The North Shore Club contested a race from Hunterville, a distance of 220 miles, for a trophy presented by Mr. It. Fullerton. The race resulted in a very close finish. Mr. E. Andrew's b c h Lady Lorna was the winner. The first three positions were: — Mr. E. Andrew's b c h Lady Lorna (velocity, 1253.5 yds per min.) 1 Mr. H. E. Crowhurst's b c c Excelsior (velocity, 1253.2 yds per min.) 2 Messrs. Buchanan Brothers' p c Blue Star (velocity, 1250 yds per min.) .. 3 AVALON CLUB. The Avalon Flying Pigeon Club flew a race from Hunterville, an airline distance of 225 miles, in glorious weather. The stationmaster liberated the birds at 7.30 a.m., and Messrs. Scott Bros, r c c Crimson Arrow registered with a velocity of 1141 yards per minute. Results : — Messrs. Scott Bros.'r c c Crimson Arrow, 1141 yds 1 Mr. F. Lambert's r c h Lady Gay, 1140.3 yds 2 Mr. H. Clay's r c c Young Inspiration, 1140.2 yds t 3 Mr. S. Wilson's r c c Flying Cloud 11., 1137 yds 4 MANUNUI PIGEON CLUB. The Manunul Homing Pigeon Club held a race from Xgaurawahia on Saturday In fine, clear weather, and it resulted in a win for Mr. Whlttaker's Prince Charleroi. Results are : — Mr. J. Whittaker's Prince Charterol (1277.7 yds per minute) 1 Mr. K. Patherson's Sunny trace (1265.8 yds) 2 Mr. J. Langwell's Bell Harold (1268 yds) 3 Also flew.—Mr. D. Andrew's Riverbrjnd (1263.1vd5) ; Mr. D. Wilson's Sand Star (1260.2yd5).
AUCKLAND SOCIETY. The Auckland Society flew Its third race of the old bird season from Taumarunui in fine weather on Saturday. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 10.80 a.m., and after a fast fly the winner proved to be Mr. Alexander's r c c OJ3 Storm Fiend. The results wete:— Mr. Alexander's re c Old Storm Fiend (1227.5 yds per minute) 1 Mr. C. Ryan's re c Midnight Walts (1226.6yd5) 2 Mr. L. Cantell's blk c Ebony (1226 yds) 3 Also flew: Mr. Wakefield's b c h Galore (1217 yds), Mr. Buchanan's r c c All Red (1216 yds), Mr. Williams' blk c Melody (1200.0 yds), Mr. Green's b c h Silver Glow (1187 yds), Mr. McCarthy's r c c Red Earl (1169 yds), Mr. Keogh's b b p c Tray (1139 yds). THE NORTHERN CLUB. The Northern Racing Pigeon Club flew a race from Johnsouville. an airline distance of 300 miles. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 6 a.m.. the winning bird arriving at Mr. Davies' loft at 1.35 p.m. Following are the results:— Mr. 3. ELLERSLIE CLUB. The Ellerslie Club held a race from Paekakariki on Saturday, Mr. Hughes' b c h Hinemoa winning with the velocity of 1251 yds per minute after a very close race.
