PERSONAL.

Bishop Cherrington, of Hamilton, is visiting Christchurch. Mr. A. S. Bankart left for Wellington by train last evening. Mr. H. G. R. Mason left for Wellington by train last evening. Mr. Beaumont Smith arrived from Wellington this morning. Dr. Hugh Douglas, of Hamilton, is visiting Auckland. He is at the Central Hotel. Mr. W. M. Barton has been appointed secretary of the Auckland Stock Exchange. Mr. Justice Smith arrived from Wellington yesterday. He is staving at the Hotel Cargen. Captain D. McLeay has been appointed officer in charge of the Hokianga signal station. ° Mr. George Wilson returned to Auckland from Wellington by the Limited express this morning. Mr. C. F. Warren, of the Strand Arcade, left for a trip to Norfolk island by the Maui Pomare on Saturday. Mr. E. McHattie (Taumarunui) and Mr. and Mrs. A. Fernandez and Mr. E. Gnndlay (Wellington) are at the Star Hotel. Mr. J. F. Mackley, locomotive engineer, North Island railways, left bv the Limited express last evening on an official visit to Wellington. Mr J. McKeown, chief clerk, locomotive foreman's office, Dunedin railways, who is on holiday leave, arrived in Auckland by this morning's Limited express. Mr. T. D. Barker (Christchurch), Mr B Quinnell and Mr. M. Sutton (Nelson), Mr. T. B. Ross (Hamilton), Mr. G. G. Macfarlane (Wellington), Mr. G.R.Lane (Picton) and Mr. F. W. Browninp (New Plymouth) are at the Central Hotel. The Rev. A. J. Greenwood, vicar of St. Alban s parish, who has been undergoing surgical treatment in Mount Pleasant Hospital, is making a good recovery and expects to return to his parish in about three weeks. Mr. W. M. Cole, of the railway transport office, Ohakune, arrived in Auckland yesterday to relieve Mr. C. L. Pettit as chief clerk to the divisional superintendent, North Island railways. Mr. Pettit, who has been appointed transport control officer at Christchurch, j leaves to take up hia new duties on Thursday evening. :
