Mr. I'. .1. Dawson presided over the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, held oti Thursday evening. There was an attendance of forty members I he annual report stated that membership r in the Auckland district had increased. by four during the year, and now stood at 4f>:i. Mr. E. A. Brown was reappointed representative of the branch on the council of the Chamber of Commerce for the year. The following were elected to the local committee for the ensuing vear: Messrs. A. M. Seaman. .J. M. Elliffe'lL 0. Robin - >011 (ex-officio ). Messrs. I', .T. Dawson, Noting, 11. F. O. Twigden and D. 11. Stcen. At the conclusion of the business Mr. W. Crawford doling read a paper on '•The ProfessionA>f an Accountant." and a general discussion ensued. Several musical and elocnfionarv items were siven by Mes.-rs. .1. Thomson, B. TV. Beaumont and 11. V. Twioden.
