The weather was fine and the track was fast for the concluding day of the Geraldlne Racing Club's- spring meeting. The attendance was good and the totalisator handled £10,180, compared with £9171 on the second day last year, making the total for the meeting £20,296, compared with £ 18,921 10/ last year. An Inquiry was held after the Farewell Handicap into the running of Front Rank compared ■with that on the previous day. The explanation Was accepted. The stakes to be distributed at the meeting amount to 3000so\ s. The Mauaia Handicap, , six furlongs, is the chief sprint event of the day, and it car- ■ ries a stake of 250sovs. The other items are: Spring Plate of. 120sovs,_ six furlongs; Kensington Hack Handicap of 140 sovs, six furlongs; Huanui Hack Hurdles of lCSsovs,. one nrile and a-half aud 197 yards; County Handicap of 125sovs (for local horses), six furlongs; Hikurangi Hack Handicap of 140sovs, seven furlongs; and Parahaki Handicap of ISOsovs. one mile. On the second day the stakes amount to 1410sovs, and 320sovs are allotted to the Park Handicap, one mile. Nominations for all events close with the acting-secretary, Mr. F. L. Gunn, Whangarei. or Messrs. Blomficld [ and Co., Auckland, at o p.m. 011 Friday, October 12. The club caters well for trainers and horses, and there should "be 1 large entries and acceptances. There are fifty roomy loose boxes and special yards on its Rust Street property, within three minutes of the post office, and owners and trainers are requested to make early application for boxes or for accommodation for themselves and attendants. There will be special steamer and railway service from Auckland to Whangarei for the races, and a special horse train will leave Ellerslie on Tuesday, November <i.
