OPOTIKI BUTTER PAYMENT.

HIGHEST IN DOMINION,

OPOTIKI, this day

There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Opotiki Dairy Association held this morning. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election to fill two vacancies on the directorate resulted in the defeat of Messrs. H. R. Hogg and G. S. Moody, retiring directors. Mr. Hogg has been chairman continuously for fifteen years. Messrs. W. Giault and J. Gordon were the successful candidates.

With an additional amount to be paid to suppliers the past season totals £183,334. The quantity of butter manufactured totalled 1313 tons, an increase on the previous year of 32* tons. The number of suppliers is now 362. Mr. Hogg chairman, stated that the company is now supplying Auckland with ten tons of butter weekly.

Messrs. T. H. Pearson and M. Hamill were appointed joint auditors at a salary of £60.

Mr. Reginald Aickin, of Aickin and Son, Auckland, addressed the gathering, and in the course of his remarks stated that the Opotiki payout for butter was the highest in the Dominion. Heid (chairman i. H. D. Adams. T. King, A. Pierrepoint and T. B. Stott. Mr. G. L. Day was appointed secretary. The payout for the past season was ai the ■ ate of 1/7 per lb butterfat. The company's cheese production showed an increase over the past season ot 2, A per cent. A dividend of 5 p er cent was declared. The coming season's cheese has been sold up to December at !l most satisfactory figure.
