THIEF DISTURBED.
IN SHOP AT WIRI.
ESCAPES THROUGH WINDOW,
LEAVES MOTOR CAR BEHIND HIM.
Mr. Robert William Wilson, who <;onducts the store jind post office at Wiri, i« getting quite used to visits from burglars. Early this morning his store was broken into for the seventh time.
At "2.:i0 a.m. a re.-ident of Wiri and hi" wife were walking past the shop when they heard someone moving about in-ide. They were surprised to see a m.lll jump out of a side window and run swiftly toward- the railway station.
The. matter wa - reported to Mr. Wilson, who, on examining his store, found that the thief had gained entrance by smashing a window panel. Evidently the thief had been disturbed while at work, for nothing, excepting a screw drixer, was found to be missing. The •-hop was ransacked and goods stacked on the shelves were littered about the lloor. In making his lia-ty escape, the intruder forgot to take a motor car which he left outside the shop. This is now in the possession of the police.
