COUNTRY NEWS.

KAIPARA. The Prime Minister's election campaign in his own constituency of Kaipara will be managed by committees of his supporters, who, at a meeting this week, assured him of their continued loyalty. Barclay, the Labour candidate, who is opposing Mr. Coates, has practically completed a tour of the northern part of the electorate and has been well received.

KEBEPEEH *■

The movement among the settlers of the Kerepeehi district to form a local co-opera-tive dairy company, and build a cheese factory, is gaining impetus. It is as yet doubtful whether anything will eventuate, as the project would involve sacrificing the shares held in the dairy company at present being supplied, but the promoters have been promised about 1000 cows. They have made inquiries concerning a factory site, and are investigating the financing of the proposition.

Although there has not yet been any formal discussion by the residents of Kerepeehi concerning replacement of the hall which was burned down last week, there is a considerable body of opinion in favour of private enterprise. Messrs. Innes and Herkt, who owned the late hall, intend giving the people of the district an opportunity of deciding whether a public hall shall be acquired before they consider rebuilding. The matter will most likely be brought up at the meeting called for Friday evening to discuss the formation of a bowling club.
