HIKURANGI COAL MINES.
AGREEMENT AT CONFERENCE.
CONCESSION MADE TO MLIN

AVork was resumed at the Hikurangi Coal Company's mine at the midnight shift.
A deputation from the Miners' Union waited on the manager of the llikurangi collieries yesterday afternoon and placed before him the miners' grievance, caused by delay in the return of coal skips, which culminated in the mine being idle. The men requested that where a prolonged delay occurred in tho return of skips, the company should either pay waiting time or allow the miners to come to the surface.
The mine manager refused to recommend the payment for waiting time, but conceded that the men should in cased of delay from the cause mentioned be allowed to cume to the surface.
