The extra work entailed in the scheme for the drainage of Birkenhead, has increased the coat from £45,000 to approximately £48,500. In order to be on the high side, however, the engineer, Mr. F. E. Powell, has suggested to the Local Government Loans Board that authority Ibe given for £30,000.
He also reported to the Borough Council last evening that copies of the plan, with formal application for approval, had been sent to both the Health Department and the Auckland Harbour Board.
