NUMEROUS VALIDATIONS.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday.
Under the terms of the Local Legislation Bill introduced in the House of Representatives to-night, the Waitemata County Council is authorised to expend £4625 on concreting Oratia main road, including Parrs Bridge, instead of tar sealing as originally proposed. The Waitemata Council is also empowered to levy over Wainui riding a special rate in respect of a loan of £1400 for road formation.
Devonport Borough Council is authorised to lease to the Auckland Hugby Football Union an area within the 'borough for a term not exceeding 21 years. An exchange of certain land between Devonport Borough Council and $he General Trust Board of the diocese of Auckland is subject to two empowering clauses.
The raising of £2000 by Mount Eden Borough Council for erection of a tea kiosk on Mount Eden and expenditure of that sum, together with an additional £860 is validated. Another clause validates the union of Auckland City with Orakei Road District.
Takapuna Borough Council is authorised to refund to the Takapuna Tramways and Ferry Company, Ltd., rates paid in respect of the old tramways track for the financial year ended March last.
Devonport Borough Council is authorised to raise a loan of #4500 for the purpose of widening Victoria Street, extending Cheltenham Beach Recreation Reserve, and to recoup the council's general account for compensation paitf in respect of land taken for those purposes.
A series of clauses authorise certain financial adjustments between Takapuna', Devonport and Northcote Borough Councils in respect, of sanitary works, including destructor refuse and collecting vehicles provided, under the requirements of the Health Department. Huntly Town Board is authorised to raise a loan for municipal buildings. Manurewa Town Board is giver authority to use the whole of .certain land and the whole of a loan for cemetery purposes. The same board is authorised to grant to Huntly War Memorial Club a lease of portions of their municipal buildings. A short clause validates purchase of a road roller by Waitomo County Council on terms of payment by instalments, and the same council is authorised to pay certain preliminary expenses in reepect of Mangatea Road out of loan money.
" Whangarei County Council ia authorised to acquire over five acres of land for a stock reserve and to carry out other consequential transactions. Manukau County Council is authorised to expend • £1344 remaining from £10,500 roading loan on the formation of footpaths and reconstruction ofj bridges on Great South Road within the boundaries of Papakura riding. The same council is empowered to spend further, an unexpended £752 from an-
other loan on the construction of footpaths on the Great Sooth Road in Papatoetoe.
' Morrinsville Borough Council is empowered to spend an unexpended balance of £2300 from a £21,500 loan on street works.
Whangarei Borough Council's action in erecting a ladies' rest room, the school dental clinic and Plunket nurse rooms on a recreation reserve is validated.
The acceptance by Auckland Harbour Board from the Devonport Borough Corporation of £2000 for reclamation works is authorised.
The bill empowers the Auckland University College Council to transfer ovei; five acres in the parish of Taupiri to the Auckland Education Board as a school site.
The Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill, also introduced to-night, contains nothing of outstanding local interest, nor is there any reference to the proposed camping site for motorists on Mount Hobson Reserve. Auckland members suspected that a clause with reference to this proposal might be contained in the bill, and there was a short discussion (reported in another column) when the measure was brought down by Gov-ernor-General's Message. Both bills were read a first time and the Reserves Bill was referred to the Lands Committee.
